Ministries and Committees

Adult Faith Formation develops and implements catechistic programs for adults.

Altar & Rosary Society offers prayers and service projects benefiting the parish. The main thrust is devotion to the Blessed Mother by daily praying the assigned decade of the Rosary. Board of Education is an elected group that oversees catechesis for adults, St. Augustin School and the Religious Education Program. Building and Grounds Committee responds to parishioner maintenance requests and advises the pastor on related issues.

Children's Liturgy of the Word is a special liturgy for young children during the 5:00 P.M. Choir sings during the 10:00 A.M. Sunday Mass and the 5:00 P.M. Saturday Vigil Mass and from autumn through the end of the Easter season. Elizabeth Ministries is based on the visitation story of Mary and Elizabeth in scripture and offers hope and healing for women and their families on issues related to childbearing, sexuality and relationships.  This is an opportunity for women to minister to other women by offering support, companionship and prayers for individuals during their time of joy, trials and sorrows.  For more information, please contact Angie Mathiasen at, 991-8727.

Eucharistic Ministries assist in the distribution of the bread and wine, the body and blood of Christ, to the parish community at Mass.  Training is provided.  Those interested must be confirmed and a participating member in the faith life of the parish.   Students are also encouraged to participate. Food Pantry coordinates the parish's food donations for the needy.  The third weekend of each month is designated as Food Pantry weekend.  Donations of non-perishable food items and monetary donations are accepted before and after Mass. Contact Kerri Patton via email at

Library Committee maintains the library and selects new materials.

Little Flower Girls Club teaches what it means to be a Catholic girl and eventually a Catholic woman. Contact Molly Olinger Topf at

Marriage Preparation Sponsor Couples meet with engaged couples to help them prepare for marriage. Contact the Parish Office.

Merciful Meals furnishes temporary meal assistance to new parents or the sick.

Nine to Dine groups meet for monthly potluck dinners in homes.

Nursery provides child care during the 10:00 A.M. Mass.

Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration involves volunteers who pray in the chapel 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Contact

St. Joseph Family Shelter Meals enlists parish families to prepare meals for residents at the shelter. Contact Patty Iseminger at 515-279-7138.

Stewardship Committee develops the time, talent, and treasure of the parish.

Ushers greet people and help them find seats in church. They also assist with collections during Mass.
